Scarlett is a wonderful little girl that was picked up by a Good Samaritan on a road while on vacation. This Good Samaritan thought that the dog was going to die because she was just lying on the side of the road and wasn't moving. He couldn't let this dog just die alone so he picked her up and drove to a vet 35 miles away. This vet happens to be Ozark Mutts vet Dr Slone.
Dr Sloan examined Scarlett and found her covered in fleas and ticks (not a surprise) extremely emaciated and she had tick fever. Dr. Slone kept her overnight and gave her antibiotics, much needed fluids. The next morning after shedding all the fleas and ticks Dr Slone told the Good Samaritan to call us. We gladly took in Scarlett and tended to her needs.
It took several weeks of medical attention for Scarlett to overcome her tick fever and start to gain weight. At first we didn't think she would make it. She was so skinny and just so lethargic. A couple of times when we went to check on her she couldn’t lift her head but now she is 100% recovered and doing great.
Scarlett is a very sweet hound mix that would make a great companion for a family. Scarlett will need a home that has patience with her because she is somewhat shy around new people but with some TLC she comes around and will be your best friend. Scarlett needs a fenced yard or someone that understands hounds.

Would you like to see more pictures of me? Just email my rescue and they will be more than happy to share my other pictures with you.
We've been receiving more inquiries then ever before and it is taking me longer then normal to respond to them. Please understand that we are a volunteer organization. It may take a day or two to respond to your questions, so please be patient with us. We also had to stop taking phone calls temporarily because of the volume of calls and the time needed on the phone with perspective adopters on a daily basis. I will be more then happy to call and explain the entire adoption process if you are serious about adopting a dog. Please email your questions and I will respond as quickly as possible.
